Intended audience
Staff working with children and babies from birth to three years old in early years settings, including nurseries and childminders.
Course structure
This module is the second of a pair of modules in the course 'Working with under threes'. We recommend that before you do this module, you complete Working with under threes 1: Supporting communication and language development.
Time commitments
The module will take approximately one hour to complete. You can complete the module at your own pace and in your own time.
Pre-requisite Knowledge
No prior knowledge is needed. However, the content is targeted at staff who have some experience working with young children in the early years.

• know the key factors that impact young children’s communication development, including risk factors linked to speech and language challenges
• know some signs of speech and language challenges and some tools to identify these
• be clear what your role is in supporting the development of young children’s communication skills
• know some practical strategies for supporting young children with speech and language challenges.
