Tutor newsletter February 2025

Tutor refresher training

As part of our commitment to quality training, we will be introducing refresher training for tutors delivering Speech and Language UK courses. This will be delivered via free, on-demand courses on our Learning centre. To continue to offer training, all tutors would need to complete refresher training within a certain period of time.

The courses being covered are:
- Early Talk Boost
- Talk Boost KS1 and KS2
- Early Talk (face-to-face training as above)
- Tots Talking
- Talk for Work
We are reviewing our Primary Talk program and so will be in touch with the outcomes of that review and what it means for tutors. If you have any feedback or would like any input into how and when this training would be delivered, please contact the team.

Early Talk updates

As part of our continuous review of products we are making some changes to the Early Talk suite of products.

Early Talk Supportive Level
This program is being completely updated and will be available in the next few months. As part of the update, all Early Talk tutors will need to attend a refresher workshop, to allow them to deliver the new training course. The refresher courses will be free, and all Early Talk Tutors will be emailed with more details soon.

Working with Parents and Working with under 3s
Due to these courses being less popular than the Early Talk Supportive Level, we have made the decision to change these from face-to-face courses, to online courses. We expect both courses to be available in late 2025 as paid, on-demand courses on our new Learning Centre. Existing Working with parents and Working with under 3s tutors can continue to offer training for the rest of 2025, but the resources and training slides will be unavailable from 2025.If you have any queries regarding the updates, please contact the team.

Price changes

Like most organisations, Speech and Language UK has experienced significant cost increases over the past few years. We've worked hard to maintain our prices for the past couple of years, but we now need to increase the price of some of our products. This includes increasing the price of the Talk Boost packs to £575 from £550.
We will honour any quotes given with old pricing until the end of February 2025.

Talk Boost KS2 update

As part of our brand refresh work, we are updating all of our products, starting with the Talk Boost series.
Early Talk Boost and Talk Boost KS1 have already been done and Talk Boost KS2 is underway. Unfortunately, this is taking longer than expected.
In the meantime, Talk Boost KS2 is available with temporary spiral bound manuals via the shop. Once the new manuals have been updated, all customers with these temporary packs will be sent the lever arch manuals free of charge.
